Before we arrived, they assisted me in setting up airport transfers and a city tour for our 2 night stay in Santiago. The breakfast was delicious with lots of options. Every evening they served wine to interested guests. Our bed was very comfortable. There are varied option for lunch/dinner nearby and we got some really good recommendations from the staff. The only drawback for some people may be that there is no elevator in this historic building. Spacious rooms, amazing service! Hotel Boutique Castillo Rojo was absolutely amazing! Their top-quality service started before our stay even began when they let us store our hiking backpack for 3 nights before we arrived so we didn't have to fly it with us to Atacama. We received the bag again when we checked in and were pleasantly surprised with a small bottle of Chilean sparkling wine in our room. Our room was spacious, immaculately clean and well decorated. The bathroom was also huge and very nice! The free breakfast was delicious and they even have a daily wine hour with Chilean wine. Everyone we interacted with from the front desk staff to the breakfast crew were so kind & accommodating. Can't say enough good things about this hotel, especially as a solo traveler. Stayed 4 night in late March. I'm not a Large hotel or AirB&B guy. The hotel felt it was still in the 1920's, with special touches: candelabras, crystal water coolers, orchids and a beauitful second floor lounge and bar. The staff was wonderul and attentive, specifically Erica and Laurato at front desk. Fresh breakfast, eggs made to order, fresh fruit, good Columbian Coffee. So any restaurants no more than a block away. Garden bar next door was very nice. Very good restaurant Viva right acorss the street. Best hotel we have ever stayed in over 45 years of travel. We loved this hotel so much. It is our favorite hotel we have ever stayed in, in over 47 years of travel. It is not some big fancy hotel, but a hotel with character. The hotel itself is charming. It has a very good location. The room was beautiful, but it is the staff that makes this a truly great hotel. From the moment we arrived we were treated exceptionally. Barbara was there to check us in and ended up helping me take up my bag and also ended up coming back to the room later to help my husband learn how to use the safe (we all started laughing about it.) Barbara helped us with reservations and also with getting money. She recommended places to us. In fact, one of her recommendations ended up being my second favorite restaurant in Santiago. Erica was helpful from the moment we met her making reservations for me and going so far as to try and find me a tour of what I wanted to see which she did but unfortunately we didn’t get to go because we were leaving the only day it was taking place. She also recommended places to us and showed us ways to go to places we wanted to get to. Daniel helped with wine hour and my husband love the wine hour very much. The breakfast staff was incredible making us feel special and taking care of our breakfast needs. The staff was so kind at this hotel when I left, I felt like I was leaving family and not hotel staff. The owner of this hotel truly has a special staff. Cannot fault it A fabulously unusual hotel, steeped in history, all of which has been preserved in the refurbishment to the hotel. The staff were fantastically friendly and helpful - without exception. The breakfast was adequate. There were plenty of communal areas, both inside and outside in which to read, and chat to other guests. The hotel providing bottles of wine for Wine Hour (5-6pm) was a really nice touch and brought guests together to share recommendations/stories etcread moreread lessBeatriceManchesterManchester, United Kingdom3/27/2024×BeatriceManchester3/27/2024Cannot fault it A fabulously unusual hotel, steeped in history, all of which has been preserved in the refurbishment to the hotel. Absolutely loved our stay here! My husband and I stayed at the Castillo Rojo for 4 nights after our trekking in Patagonia, and were looking forward to a relaxing stay and a little rest. The room, and the bed, were very comfortable, so it made it easy to catch up on some great sleep. The hotel is in a great location, surrounded by restaurants and a short walk from San Cristobal and the funicular. We walked to the Lastarria neighborhood several times and always felt safe. The building also sits on its own little square, where we got to watch a local band play and on another evening, people learning to dance:) The hotel has a lot of character and is very clean. The complimentary wine hour is also a great time to meet other guests and exchange recommendations and stories. They also have a lovely shaded courtyard, and we would love to see the hotel make more use of this area, maybe for cocktails, etc. *Now for the most important part: the hotel staff is outstanding in their willingness and effort to make your stay in Santiago perfect. Before our arrival, the front desk reached out about how they could help us plan our stay. We scheduled airport transfers and a day tour of the city before we arrived. Once there, we had so much help choosing restaurants, making reservations, and even arranging a private tour of a winery for us. A huge shoutout to Barbara and Erica for all of their help and enthusiasm. Staff helped with restaurant recommendations which were spot on. One staff member lent me her personal umbrella to use as a parasol when we decided to take the funicular in the afternoon when it was the hottest time of day. That was really sweet. The room itself was clean and comfortable. Good bed, good wifi, okay water pressure. We missed having a bar but the afternoon wine tasting--which was self service, two bottles of wine in the lounge area with guests socializing--was fun. Breakfast was okay though service (for hot cooked orders) was slow to very slow. But the staff are cheerful.
